A series of portraits of parish and monastic Christian communities in the interior of their churches

About project

The creative association "Parsuna" presents portraits of parish and monastic Christian communities in the interiors of their churches.

After the liturgy, we ask the parishioners to turn their faces to the camera, take detailed pictures of faces, icons, frescoes, details of the church interior, in order to recreate the image of the Eighth Day world.

The image of the Eighth Day in Christian theology is associated with the unity of people in the body of the Church. This is the time of the meeting of man with God, the day of the contact of the human soul with the Kingdom of God. The “eighth day” of creation in Orthodox theology is called the blessed eternity that will come after the second coming of Christ and the general Resurrection.

With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, with the support of the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and the Media, as well as with the assistance of the Press Service of His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, the Parsuna Creative Group has been creating a large collection of panoramic group portraits of parish and monastic communities.

Our panoramas have been repeatedly exhibited in the exhibition hall of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. For example, they made up a significant part of the exhibition dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the ministry of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill. The works of this project were shown in a dozen cities of Russia.
